As Vietnamese Women’s Day approaches, it’s a moment not only to celebrate the remarkable contributions of women in our families, and workplaces but also to look back at the progress made in advancing gender equality.
Our latest survey findings show:
6 in 10 say equality is achieved fully at home.
4 in 10 see progress fully in the workplace.
At home, people judge equality by felt fairness such as shared decisions and chores, so acceptance rises quickly. At work, they judge it by outcomes such as pay, promotions, roles, and safety, which change more slowly because they depend on systems.
For foreign businesses want to operate well and attract talent in Vietnam, they should recognize that home norms outpace workplace systems and convert culture into mechanisms by introducing transparent pay bands, consistent promotion criteria, and track outcomes to prove fairness.
