The Khmers are highly traditional and still remembers to pray for their ancestors especially this upcoming Pchum Ben celebration. A week before the actual holidays, Pagodas are starting to be filled with people, young and old alike. According to Indochina Research’s IRLight Quarter 3 survey among 1000 individuals across Cambodia, this coming Pchum Benh most Khmers will visit pagodas to listen to Dharma and attend family and community gatherings.
Interestingly, the popular product choices to be bought, whether for offering and own consumption are non-alcoholic beverages (juice, packaged water, energy drinks, soft drinks), cooking aids (seasoning), instant noodles and biscuits. Given that this festivity is also a time to celebrate with family and friends, beer is also a popular drink at this time.
